Academic Planning Actions from Spring 2023
Several changes to CALS academic programs, centers and departments were approved during the spring semester. Certain actions require approvals by the college Academic Planning Council and some have received additional approvals from the University Academic Planning Council. Lumen is the online system to submit and track program and structure changes at UW-Madison and proposals can be viewed within Lumen.
Program changes approved in spring 2023:
- PhD program name change ― Nutrition and Metabolism, effective fall 2023 (formerly Nutritional Sciences PhD)
- MS program name change ― Nutrition and Metabolism, effective fall 2023 (formerly Nutritional Sciences MS)
- New BS program ― Animal and Veterinary Sciences, effective fall 2023
Structure changes approved in spring 2023:
- Center for Dairy Profitability move from CALS to Division of Extension, effective July 1, 2023
- New Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences and closure of the Departments of Agronomy and Horticulture, effective July 1, 2023
