Kelley Kula joins CALS as safety coordinator

On May 1, 2023, Kelley Kula joined the CALS Office of the Dean and Director as safety coordinator. In this role, he is responsible for developing, supporting, managing, and promoting comprehensive multidisciplinary safety programs to maintain a safe and healthy environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors at CALS. This involves assisting departments and agricultural research stations with their safety programs; monitoring compliance; coordinating trainings; providing guidance; and helping to foster a strong culture of safety at CALS.

He has performed building inspections and area-specific safety audits to achieve compliance with state and federal regulations, has experience working on a farm, and holds Asbestos Inspector and Asbestos Supervisor certifications.

Kelley reports to Doug Sabatke, director of facilities for CALS.  Kelley will also work closely with the associate dean for research and graduate programs, the director of CALS Agricultural Research Stations, the senior associate dean, department chairs, center directors, faculty and other college team members. He will serve as the CALS liaison to EHS and University Health Services.
