CALS is happy to report we are re-instating the CALS Undergraduate Research Award opportunity for CALS students. Interested students will be directed to fill out an application in the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH) that will include a short proposal describing their research project. (Please see the student communication below which will be sent out on Wednesday, April 22.)

The student must be a current CALS student at any undergraduate level, and any topic area for the research proposal is allowed. Eligible students must have a GPA of at least 2.0. The award of $3000 will be received by the student in the semester the research is being carried out, either spring 2023 or fall 2023. If the student is conducting their research during summer 2023, a spring 2023 payout will be made.

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences wishes to support undergraduate students who are conducting research on campus. Recognition for these experiences includes a $3,000 award from the College.

The application deadline is Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:59 pm. Late applications will NOT be considered. 

To access the CALS Undergraduate Research Award application:

1. Log into WiSH
2. Complete the General Application filter questions (unless completed prior).
3. In the “Other Recommended Opportunities” section, locate and click on the “CALS Undergraduate Research Award” application.
4. Once you open the application, answer all the questions, add your Research Mentor’s Name and Email address as a reference, and upload your research proposal making sure to follow the directions provided in the application.
5. Finally, click on “Finish and Submit.”
