Travelers: Get your REAL ID through Wisconsin DMV ahead of spring deadline

If you plan to fly within the U.S., visit a military base or other federal buildings, the Department of Homeland Security will require identification that is REAL ID compliant (or show another acceptable form of identification, such as a passport) beginning May 3, 2023.

CALS Business Services encourages anyone in need of the compliance to act sooner rather than later, as many things could delay the issue of your new card and you could find yourself stuck when needing to travel. This includes improper documentation when requesting the new card or just the time it takes for your new card to arrive in the mail.  They do not issue it onsite.

Please be aware that any costs incurred while traveling that are the result of your not having a REAL ID are not reimbursable. Additionally, the charge for the REAL ID updated ID or drivers license is not reimbursable.

Please refer to the DMV REAL ID webpage for more information and a list of acceptable documentation that will allow a compliant card to be issued. Contact your CALS Business Services accountant for more information on reimbursements or policy.
