May 2022 update from University Bicycle Resource Center

Our next bicycle class, “Bicycle Traffic Skills 101,” will be on Tuesday, May 24th from noon to 1:30 p.m at the shop. Learn the basics of vehicular cycling and keep yourself safe and comfortable while riding in traffic. Class taught by Chuck Strawser, UW Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator. This class is free.

If an hour just isn’t enough for you, the SAME subject matter, but in MUCH deeper detail, will be taught THIS Saturday, May 21st 8:00 am – 5:30 pm at 132 WARF Office Building, 610 Walnut St, on the UW Madison campus.

The cost is $50 and you can register at https://bikeleague.secure.force.com/LAB_Events?id=a0k8Y00000ZWYCOQA5. The class fulfills the pre-requisite requirement for the League Cycling Instructor seminar and will be taught by John Rider (contact at 608-225-5520, jrider@tds.net).

If you can’t make it or would rather stay virtual, a Youtube playlist of recordings of last year’s virtual classes is available at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNtejTllqtG8fFgXwjW_AtP8PhJwNrTG7.

Our summer hours are now posted online (https://transportation.wisc.edu/bicycling/university-bicycle-resource-center/) and on the shop door. If more physical distance than the shop can provide is your jam, check out our Air and Repair stations throughout campus (map at https://transportation.wisc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/28/2017/12/Bicycle-Air-Repair-Station-and-Specialty-Parking-Locations-Map.pdf).

And here’s a plug for some fun stuff…Madison Bike Week is June 5-11. For more information and a list of events see https://www.madisonbikes.org/events/bikeweek-2022/.

Enjoy the coming summer!
