Abstract: Water-soluble carbohydrates – the sugars, oligosaccharides, and fructans – are readily available to rumen microbes and don’t behave like starch. In this talk we’ll delve into things we know and things that need further investigation on their ruminal kinetics, effect on microbial products, and how all this can affect dairy cow performance.
