Reminder to sign up by Mar. 25: CALS faculty and staff sought for Wisconsin Youth Institute on Apr. 11
On Apr. 11, CALS and the World Food Prize Foundation will be hosting the eighth annual Wisconsin Youth Institute as part of our involvement to solicit candidates to attend the Global Youth Institute in Des Moines, Iowa. Wisconsin high school students will have the opportunity to share about global issues they are passionate about and propose their solutions to these challenges. In order to make this happen, we will need CALS faculty and staff to engage as experts in your respective fields. You can learn more information about our program at http://worldfoodprize.org/wisconsin.
We are hoping you consider participation in being a Roundtable Facilitator, Roundtable Moderator, Roundtable Observer, or an Immersion Session Leader to offer your expertise and share your research with our Wisconsin high school students. See below for more details.
Roundtable Facilitators will review student research papers before the institute takes place. Must be available on Monday, April 11, 9:30-11:00am to facilitate and evaluate student presentations to critique their research and solutions with provided rubrics.
Roundtable Moderators will be the timekeeper and ensure a smooth flow of student presentations. Must be available on Monday, April 11, 9:30-11:00am to moderate the presentations and discussions.
Roundtable Observer must be available Monday, April 11, 9:30-11:00am to observe student presentations.
Immersion Session Leaders will provide a virtual workshop, activity, or presentation for students to learn more about the research and activities we engage in CALS to solve world hunger. Leaders can host a live session or a pre-recorded video/presentation. If hosting a live session, they must occur on Monday, April 11 between 1:00-2:30pm so it does not conflict with other program activities.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out this form by Friday, March 25.
If you would like to learn more about the World Food Prize Foundation, you can visit their website or watch this video. Please share this opportunity with any high school students or teachers who may be interested in participating in the Wisconsin Youth Institute.
Please contact Lauryn Christianson at lauryn.christianson@wisc.edu if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration.
