Following positive site visit, college continues full accreditation for using animals in research and teaching
Following their visit to the campus, the AAALAC International Council on Accreditation commended CALS personnel for an excellent program of laboratory animal care and use. Reviewers noted the knowledgeable, dedicated, and welcoming staff who were experts in their field; the novel incorporation of precision livestock farming technologies at the Arlington Blaine Dairy and the Arlington sheep facility; an excellent and comprehensive training program; and the knowledgeable Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
AAALAC International is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment programs.
More than 1,040 companies, universities, hospitals, government agencies and other research institutions in 50 countries have earned AAALAC accreditation, demonstrating their commitment to responsible animal care and use. These institutions volunteer to participate in AAALAC’s program, in addition to complying with the local, state and federal laws that regulate animal research.
