Statement against racism and hate to be included in all CALS position vacancy listings
In response to a request by the CALS Equity and Diversity Committee, the college now includes a statement against racism and hate in all job postings.
The short version of the statement reads:
“At the UW–Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), we acknowledge that bias, prejudice, racism and hate have historically occurred in many forms that cause significant and lasting harm to members of our community. We commit to taking actions each day toward a college that is inclusive and welcoming to all.”
Several governance groups, including the Equity and Diversity Committee, Committee on Academic Staff Issues and the Academic Planning Council reviewed the language.
This new statement will appear along with the existing diversity statement already standard in all position vacancy listings and can be found on the college’s Fostering an Inclusive Community web page.
