UW–Madison Libraries seek science-focused proposals for Library Collections Enhancement Initiative
The UW-Madison Libraries encourage your participation in the Library Collections Enhancement Initiative (LCEI). The LCEI program strengthens campus research capacities by providing UW–Madison Libraries with flexibility to address critical and emerging collections needs. This program is supported by a $250,000 investment from the OVCRGE with support from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF).
During this second round of funding, we hope to identify resources that could meet needs or fill gaps in our science collections. These could be print or electronic books, or other resources, that focus on a specific research area and are available as a one-time purchase.
Proposals must be made by at least one faculty member in partnership with at least one librarian with relevant subject expertise. Science librarians would be happy to partner with you! Proposals should include a list of titles proposed for acquisition, a coherent collection development plan, and a budget. Both interdisciplinary and subject-focused proposals are welcome. We anticipate that the average proposal will be between $10,000 and $25,000. See this School of Pharmacy example from the last round: https://go.wisc.edu/mo40zc.
Abstracts (1 page max) describing the proposed acquisitions are due by Monday, December 13, 2021 at 4:30 pm.
For additional information and application instructions, see the LCEI webpage: https://research.wisc.edu/funding/library-collections-enhancement-initiative/.
Finally, if you have a collection need or idea for library resources that may not be appropriate for this initiative, we would still like to hear about it. We may be able to acquire desired materials through other means – so let us know your ideas! Contact a UW-Madison Science & Engineering Librarian at AskSEL@library.wisc.edu
