Hilldale Awards
Annual Nomination Deadline: 15 December
The Hilldale Awards recognize distinguished contributions to teaching, research, and service and are awarded annually to one faculty member in each division. Nominations are accepted from department chairs. If a center, institute, or other unit wishes to advance a nomination, it should coordinate the nomination with an academic department. Each department may nominate one tenured faculty member. Hilldale Lecture Series
Annual Nomination Deadline: 15 December
The Hilldale Lecture Series showcases distinguished thinkers whose contributions to contemporary culture and science have received international recognition and acclaim. One lecture is funded annually in each division. Nominations are accepted from chairs or directors. Multiple nominations from a department, center or program will be accepted. Lecturers should be distinguished in their fields and should be outstanding speakers who can address general audiences effectively. Nominations of individuals from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in their fields are particularly welcome. In addition to presenting a public talk, each lecturer generally meets in more informal settings with faculty and students of the nominating department. Genevieve Gorst Herfurth Award for Outstanding Research in the Social Sciences
Annual Nomination Deadline: 15 December
One award is made annually to a currently enrolled doctoral student in the social sciences who has demonstrated outstanding research and scholarly writing accomplishments while a graduate student at UW-Madison. Nominations are accepted from social sciences faculty and multiple nominations are accepted.
