Disposal of surplus supplies, scrap and equipment

All supplies and equipment (functional and non-functional) purchased with any university funding, including sponsored, departmental or gift, belongs to the university. When a department determines items are no longer needed, regardless of payment funding source, the items MUST be disposed of through Purchasing Services’ SWAP program (Surplus With a Purpose).

Campus Purchasing (via SWAP) has the SOLE authority for disposal of surplus property. Departments are not authorized to trade, scrap, sell or donate university property to entities outside the UW- Madison.
