CALS EDC lunch and learn: How implicit bias impacts scholarship awarding – Oct. 18

Members of the CALS community are invited to join the first session of the CALS Equity and Diversity Committee’s Fall 2021 Lunch and Learn series.

“Financing Higher Education: How Implicit Bias Impacts Scholarship Awarding”
Presentation by Lo Klink, Associate Director for Special Awards & Student Engagement, Office of Student Financial Aid

October 18, 2021
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Virtual via Zoom:

Implicit bias encompasses the views or stereotypes affecting people’s actions and decisions outside of their conscious awareness. These preferences impact socialization, interpreting unfamiliar information, and decision-making. We all have implicit bias and even if we are not selecting students for scholarships, it is impacting our decision-making processes which could lead to inequitable outcomes for the students we serve. Join Lo Klink to learn about this topic and resources you can tap into to evaluate how to lessen implicit bias in your daily life.

The remaining Fall 2021 Lunch and Learns will take place on the following dates from 12-1pm:

  • November 15
  • December 20

Further details to be announced prior to each session.
