Raise a glass to support MANRRS student organization
The UW–Madison chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) is the featured non-profit partner at Delta Beer Lab for the month of September.
Over the last two years, Delta Beer Lab, which serves their own craft beers and sodas, as well as snacks, has raised over $60k for local non-profit partners in the Madison area. How does it work? Delta Beer Lab pays their employees a living wage and does not accept tips in their taproom. Instead, the business gathers all of the “tips” they receive in a given month and donates them to a selected non-profit.
Funds raised this way during September will be used for student programming, professional development and opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students affiliated with MANRRS at UW–Madison. The goal of the national MANRRS organization is to provide professional development and networking opportunities for traditionally underrepresented students to meet industry partners and those in higher education. Students in the UW–Madison chapter have used their participation to secure job and internship opportunities, as well as graduate and post-doctoral connections.
So if you get a chance, stop by Delta Beer Lab this month, enjoy a refreshment, and check out their science-themed “Social Laboratory” gathering space. And be sure to leave a “tip” for the UW–Madison MANRRS organization!
