May 2021 update from University Bicycle Resource Center
Our next bicycle class, “Bicycle Traffic Skills 101 – Virtual,” will be on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Learn the basics of vehicular cycling and keep yourself safe and comfortable while riding in traffic. Class taught by Chuck Strawser, UW Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator. Pre-registration on Zoom is required, with no attendee cap. Once you are approved by the host, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the session. Register at https://uwmadison.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwtf-yhrD8uEtRfyalkN_r_tKsu32yL2EvH If you miss the class, a recording of this class should be available after the event.
A Youtube playlist for recordings of all of our past virtual classes is at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNtejTllqtG8fFgXwjW_AtP8PhJwNrTG7 . You can also see a list of our planned summer classes with registration links at https://transportation.wisc.edu/bicycling/university-bicycle-resource-center/by scrolling to the bottom of the page. We will be posting fall classes sometime over the summer.
The shop itself will continue to be closed for the spring semester and this summer out of an abundance of caution due to the high number of touch points and in an effort to try to limit the spread of COVID-19. We have high hopes to hire new staff for fall 2021 and hopefully be able to reopen then for drop in DIY bike work. However, in the meantime you can still perform DIY bicycle repairs at outdoor air and repair stations located throughout campus (see the map at https://transportation.wisc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/28/2017/12/Bicycle-Air-Repair-Station-and-Specialty-Parking-Locations-Map.pdf ).
Enjoy the coming summer!
