CALS Conference Services has provided conference planning and registration services to the college and UW-Madison community for many years, but CALS leaders announced plans to close the office as a result of budget pressures. The pandemic has had significant financial implications for CALS and UW-Madison, including lost revenues from suspending in-person activities.
Recently, CALS announced changes to align farm research operation support more directly with agricultural research activities.
“The shift in the farm research operations support directly impacts CALS Conference Services,” explained Dean Kate VandenBosch. “This subsidy covers the fringe benefit costs for staff, as well as any 136 campus and CALS surcharges associated with those revenues. The CALS Conference Services exemption for these fees will end on June 30, 2021.”
VandenBosch added, “The staff in CALS Conference Services have provided excellent customer service to our community and I am grateful for their professionalism and their dedication to the Wisconsin Idea.”
CALS Conferences Services staff will contact all current clients directly to plan for their scheduled events. They are not accepting any new business.
For new conference planning or registration needs, UW-Madison faculty, staff and students can contract with the Wisconsin Union Conference Management, School of Education Professional Learning and Community Education or UW-Madison Conference Centers. When contracting with service providers outside of UW, please remember to follow UW Purchasing guidelines.
