February 2021 update from University Bicycle Resource Center

Oooo baby it’s COLD outside!

Our first spring semester virtual bicycle mechanics class, “Rear Wheel Removal and Re-install Class – Virtual,” will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Ever had a rear flat tire but were intimidated by removing and re-installing the rear wheel? Fear no longer! Get the basic how-to’s and expert tips & tricks for removing your bike’s rear wheel. This is a hands-on free class and it’s optimal if you have your bike with you to practice what you are learning in real time. It’s a free class taught by India Viola, local bicycle advocate and educator. Pre-registration through Zoom is required. Once you are approved by the host, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the session. Register at If you miss the class, a recording of this class should be available after the event.

In other class news, we now have a Youtube playlist for recordings of all of our past virtual classes at – . You can also see a list of our planned spring classes with registration links at scrolling to the bottom of the page.

The shop itself will continue to be closed for the spring semester out of an abundance of caution due to the high number of touch points and in an effort to try to limit the spread of COVID-19. We have high hopes to hire new staff for summer 2021 and hopefully be able to reopen then for drop in DIY bike work. However, in the meantime you can still perform DIY bicycle repairs at outdoor air and repair stations located throughout campus (see the map at ).

Hope your spring semester is going great!
