November update from University Bicycle Resource Center

And just like that it was November already…

Our fall virtual bicycle mechanics class series continues on Tuesday, November 10, 2020,  7 – 8:30 p.m. with “Bicycle Hub Overhaul Demo.” This free class will be taught by India Viola, local bicycle advocate and educator. The instructor will take apart a wheel hub and demonstrate repacking of wheel bearings. The inner workings of this simple but mysterious bicycle maintenance task will be revealed. Pre-registration is required at https://uwmadison.webex.com/uwmadison/k2/j.php?MTID=tca3afdc054a5448787b4e892a96fa686 Once you are approved by the host, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the session.

We’ve also posted videos of our first two classes online:

The shop itself continues to be closed for the fall semester out of an abundance of caution due to the high number of touch points and in an effort to try to limit the spread of COVID-19. However, you can still perform DIY bicycle repairs at outdoor air and repair stations located throughout campus (see the map at https://transportation.wisc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/28/2017/12/Bicycle-Air-Repair-Station-and-Specialty-Parking-Locations-Map.pdf ).

It’s beautiful outside, go ride a bike! Stay safe and be well.
