New seminar series to feature short scientific talks by Latinx researchers
A new seminar series that features short scientific talks by Latinx researchers — called El Zoominario — is about to launch. This informal seminar series was established to increase visibility of Latinx people in STEM.
The seminar talks will:
- be short (15-20min)
- be scheduled for the first Friday of every month (3pm CST)
- be accessible to people across fields
- include some interesting facts (chosen by the speaker) about Latinx culture
Live attendance will be restricted to UW people. All talks will be recorded and available on YouTube after the live streaming.
If you are interested to attend the talks, please join the google group here (you need to be logged in with your wiscmail account).
The first talk is scheduled for Oct. 2. Details of the upcoming talks will be sent via email to those on the mailing list.
For information about the new group, please contact Claudia Solis-Lemus, series co-founder and assistant professor of plant pathology, at solislemus@wisc.edu.
