Dear UW–Madison Colleague,
UW–Madison, in consultation with UW System, has decided to extend the Title and Total Compensation (TTC) Project timeline, delaying the scheduled implementation of new titles and position descriptions until 2021.
The shift will allow time for employees, supervisors and human resources (HR) departments to focus on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new timeline will also help ensure that employee conversations about position descriptions and TTC title placement can safely occur.
TTC remains an important campus initiative and its goals are as worthy now as ever. UW–Madison’s primary focus for now is on implementing an approach to a safe reopening that is tailored to the needs and resources of our campus and employs strong public health measures to protect students, faculty, staff and the broader community.
As our plans become clearer in the coming months, the TTC Project will announce when project activities will resume, including conversations that need to take place in person. Future TTC timeline strategies will consider these conversations, as well as the safety and well-being of everyone on campus.
We will use this extra time to develop additional project components that were originally scheduled for future phases. This includes enhancing professional development opportunities to prepare employees for future career advancement and building a long-term comprehensive compensation and benefits strategy.
The TTC Project has had over 33,000 engagements with employees to date in the form of input sessions, work groups, employee forums, and more. We will continue to engage employees throughout the process.
We recognize that you may have several questions about the changing project timeline. As new information becomes available, the TTC Project Team will update content in the Resource Library and the project website at go.wisc.edu/TTCProject.
The TTC Project Team and campus leadership thank you for your support and flexibility during these challenging times. We are looking forward to implementing this important project in 2021 to provide UW–Madison with a market-informed pay and benefits structure.
