In February, the college announced planning had begun for a pilot climate survey. After consultation with a faculty and staff working group and the departments that planned to pilot the survey, implementation of the CALS climate survey will be postponed until fall 2020.
Senior Associate Dean Mark Rickenbach said, “Given all that everyone is doing, the unsettled and uncertain environment we find ourselves in, and forced social distancing — which likely impacts climate, this is the best course action.”
Members of the working group and consultants with Office of Strategic Consulting have put a lot of effort into questionnaire development. Pilot departments have also contributed feedback. Rickenbach said, “All of this work will put us in a good place to take this on come fall. The delay is unfortunate, and we’d like to provide everyone with the chance to participate fully.”
eCALS will continue to include updates about the survey in the fall.
