CALS Wellness Committee tip: Super soups
Good news! Research shows that having a cup of soup before your meal can reduce the number of calories you eat. The research also concluded that a broth soup was just as satisfying as a cream soup. For instance, one cup of a broth based minestrone soup at 112 calories will satisfy you just as much as one cup of a cream based mushroom bisque soup at 400 calories. Be sure to select a soup that is not too high in sodium. For details on the study visit https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2128765/.
