CALS Wellness Committee tip: Find trainings and info at the University Bicycle Resource Center

Many are hoping that spring is on its way. Shop hours and updates for the University Bicycle Resource Center can be found here. You can stop by and get a little lubricant on your chain or air in your tires so you can start riding again.

They are also offering some bicycle trainings this spring.

  • SMART CYCLING (TRAFFIC SKILLS 101: LCI Prereq Course), Saturday, March 21, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., 132 WARF Office Building, $50. A fast-paced class that provides cyclists with the confidence to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. Basics of bike maintenance, rules of the road, on-bike skills, and crash avoidance techniques. The workshop will start in the classroom for discussions about safe riding techniques, then we head to the parking lot to practice some on-bike skills. We will finish the workshop with a ride on-road. Pre-req for LCI course. Reserve your spot in the class by emailing jrider@tds.net.
  • LEAGUE CYCLING INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (LCI), Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19. All day, 132 WARF Office Building, $350 before 3/21/2020 ($425 on/after 3/21/2020). League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) are ambassadors for better biking through education. After earning certification through a 3-day, League Coach-led seminar, LCIs teach Smart Cycling classes to children as well as adults. This course requires the Smart Cycling prerequisite class.
