Updates from the 2019 department chairs’ retreat
On August 15, CALS department chairs gathered for their annual retreat. A college update included news on faculty hiring, trends in research proposals and awards and progress toward our $150M development goal. Dean VandenBosch discussed college-level projects for the upcoming years, including developing a teaching load policy, initiating facilities master planning and developing a climate survey that could be used by departments.
Karen Wassarman, associate dean for academic affairs, provided department chairs with an update on undergraduate enrollments, growth in summer programs, new academic programs and CALS’ advising goals before Senior Associate Dean Mark Rickenbach gave an overview of 2019-20 compensation initiatives.
