Heidi Johnson named director of Division of Extension’s Agriculture Institute

Heidi Johnson has been named director of the Agriculture Institute within the Division of Extension. Johnson has been serving in this role in an interim capacity since February, 2019. Prior to her interim director role, she served as an agriculture educator in Dane County for six years and in Jefferson County for four years. As a county educator, Johnson took a leadership role in the state in coordinating and developing educational resources for farmers in the area of soil and water conservation. She has a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and has done extensive work in the areas of cover crops and soil health.
