This research competition is available because of the impressive efforts of UW–Madison faculty and staff in filing successful patents through the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), and the generous support of WARF.
All requests must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Faculty members and permanent principal investigators (PI) may submit one application to the standard competition. This submission may be either individual or involve collaboration with another faculty member or permanent PI. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by December 20.
It is especially important to take time to review the FAQs specific to your Division. Please see https://research.wisc.edu/funding/fall-competition/.
To make the best use of the funds available to the divisional research committees, it is critical for applicants also to be applying for external grants with the fall research proposal serving as back-up support. Information about the granting procedures of various federal and non-federal agencies is available from the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs website.
If you are applying for a Guggenheim, NEH, or ACLS fellowship, contact your Divisional Associate Vice Chancellor (262-1044). Please make sure you know and understand the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education supplementation policies, especially for external research fellowships other than the three identified above.
The online application opens at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, August 5.
