The Allen Centennial Garden recently received an Evjue Foundation Award. The $5,000 grant will support the garden’s annual symposium. The next symposium is entitled, “Resilient Landscapes: Cultivating Connected Communities.”
William T. Evjue founded The Capital Times newspaper in 1917 and became one of the most influential editors in Wisconsin newspaper history. He was an early supporter of Gaylord Nelson, and the Wisconsin Idea was, to him, the epitome of how the university could serve the entire state. Just before his death in 1970, Evjue formed what was to become known as the Evjue Foundation.
