Bill proposes $7.9M investment in dairy research at UW campuses

Last week, Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) introduced Senate Bill 186 that calls for investing $7.9M in dairy research at UW–Madison, UW–Platteville and UW–River Falls. Should the measure pass, it would represent a base budget increase to CALS of more than $4M for agricultural research.
Dean Kate VandenBosch joined the bill’s sponsors and deans from UW–Platteville and UW–River Falls at a press conference announcing the Dairy Innovation Hub legislation on May 1. Four CALS faculty members and several CALS alumni testified in support of the measure at a hearing before the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Revenue and Financial Institutions.
