Let students know: New incentives to participate in Healthy Minds Survey

On April 9, all UW-Madison students received the Healthy Minds Survey link via email. This is a national survey administered at 200 colleges and universities across the country. Our data tells us about UW-Madison overall student mental health status, sense of belonging, flourishing rates, eating and body image issues, self-injury and suicidality, abuse experiences, help-seeking behaviors, perceived stigma, resilience and coping mechanisms, treatment experiences, and more. Results from the Healthy Minds Survey will help us understand student mental health and shape programs, services, and a campus-wide strategy to improve the campus climate around student well-being. We also rely on this data set to help us address the concerns of underrepresented students.

Please actively encourage students to take the survey (25 minutes! A great study break!). Response rates are currently very low, particularly for underrepresented students. To incentivize participation, 700 students who complete the survey will be randomly selected to receive $10 directly deposited on their Wiscard, and 25 students will win $200 in cash! Please remind students that their responses are confidential.

The following materials are available to help you promote the survey:

You could also forward the text below to students, and feel free to personalize the message to make it more targeted and persuasive. Students will also receive email reminders to complete the survey before it closes on April 30.

Why should students take the Healthy Minds Survey?
The Healthy Minds Survey is a national survey administered at 200 colleges and universities across the country. An adequate sample size is essential; our goal is 7,800 responses!
