The first ever Day of the Badger was held last week on April 9. Over the course of 1848 minutes, more than 150 donors made gifts to CALS and more than $60,000 was raised, putting CALS in 10th place on the leaderboard! The money will go towards scholarships for incoming freshmen who participate in CALS QuickStart, a program designed to help incoming first-year students in any CALS major get a summer start on coursework, reduce their time to graduation and join a cohort of other students.
The university as a whole saw the day as a success. More than 5,000 gifts were made to UW–Madison from all 50 states, 14 countries and four continents, raising more than $1.8 million. Additionally, more than 16,000 Badgers shared their pride in the university via social media using the hashtag #dayofthebadger.
