UAPC approves discontinuation of the Wisconsin Center for Sustainable Agriculture

Effective January 1, the University Academic Planning Council (UAPC) approved the college’s proposal to discontinue the Wisconsin Center for Sustainable Agriculture (UAPC Doc 2018.12.20.06). The UAPC action follows approval by the CALS’ Academic Planning Council (APC) on October 2, 2018.

Launched more than 10 years ago, the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (WISA) was created to house several existing activities and increase collaborations among them, including the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems (CIAS), the Nutrient and Pest Management Program (NPM), and the Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM). Lacking resources and the ability to fulfill this original intent, the work and personnel of the program have either remained in their individual units, been absorbed into other projects, or discontinued as individuals retired or departed.
