SciMed GRS seeks new director, marks 10th anniversary of program

The Science and Medicine Graduate Research Scholars (SciMed GRS) program has reached its 10-year milestone. Under the capable leadership of Director Sara Patterson, SciMed GRS tangibly improved recruitment, retention, and community at UW–Madison for URM graduate students in the biological sciences, and thereby enriching the educational and research experience for all.

Now moving into its second decade, SciMed GRS seeks a new Director, as Professor Patterson has announced her plans to retire in the spring of 2019. A search committee including members from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the School of Medicine and Public Health, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and School of Pharmacy just released a formal PVL with an application deadline of January 14, 2019. The committee invites applications from among the tenured professoriate of the four participating schools or colleges. Please take some time to consider whether you or someone you know has the leadership skills and commitment to graduate education, equity and diversity, and intercollege collaboration that will be the hallmarks of our next Director.
