This week, the annual Thanksgiving greeting from Dean Kate VandenBosch will be delivered to mailboxes of those who support the college through partnerships, collaborations, volunteering or making philanthropic gifts. Her message of thanks is equally relevant to the readers of eCALS:
“During the harvest season, all of us in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences are thankful for our friends near and far. May your harvest celebrations be filled with health, fellowship and cranberry delights.”
This year’s Thanksgiving card features a photo by Jeff Miller of HyRed cranberries being harvested at Cranberry Creek in Necedah, Wisconsin. The HyRed cranberry variety was developed by researchers in department of horticulture. Native to North America, the cranberry is the official state fruit of Wisconsin, and the state produces 62% of the country’s cranberry crop.
