The Wisconsin Academy’s upcoming science and policy conference Science and the American Experiment will feature a number of CALS experts, including CALS associate dean for research Bill Barker, who will be a member of the “Investing in Opportunity” panel; plant pathology professor and WID director Jo Handelsman, who is giving a talk on “Science as Aspiration;” and life sciences communication professor Dietram Scheufele, who will moderate the “Communicating about Science in a Post-Truth Era” panel. The conference will be held Friday, April 6 at the Pyle Center.

Science and the American Experiment is part of the Wisconsin Academy’s year-long examination of the American Dream in Wisconsin. The conference explores the opportunities created by science in Wisconsin, the benefits from public investment in science and the challenges of communicating the value of science in an era of digital media and post-truth politics.
