Please join the CALS Equity & Diversity Committee for the committee’s Spring 2018 Lunch and Learn Series: “Understanding Implicit Bias,” which will take place Monday, Feb. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in room 1520 of the Microbial Sciences Building. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunches.
This interactive talk introduces faculty and staff to the concepts of implicit or unconscious biases and assumptions about diverse groups of people by treating the application of such biases as a habit of mind. Participants will learn how to uncover their own biases, discover the underlying concepts and language used in the psychological and social psychological literature to describe such processes and learn evidence-based strategies for reducing the application of these biases.
This presentation will be led by Jennifer Sheridan of the Women in Science & Engineering Leadership Institute (WISELI).
