Partners in Giving campaign now underway

The following message was sent to UW-Madison employees from Chancellor Rebecca Blank on Oct. 11, 2017:

Dear Colleagues:

In the best Wisconsin tradition of volunteerism and community service, the Partners in Giving campaign—the State, University and UW Health Employees Combined Campaign of Dane County—offers each of us an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of people in our own community and around the world.

This year’s theme is “Let’s Build a Better World Together.” The campaign will take place October 9 – November 30 of this year, but contributions can be made through May 31, 2018. Partners in Giving helps more than 500 local, state, national and international organizations provide essential services and support initiatives that strengthen our community, nation and world. During the 2016 campaign, UW-Madison and UW Health employee donations totaled $1,480,649. Combined with contributions from state agency employees, $2,556,092 was raised for charitable causes.

“Cherrity” ice cream, specially created for last year’s campaign by Babcock Hall, will remain the flavor of choice for this year’s campaign. It is available for purchase throughout the campaign while supplies last. I encourage you to feature it if your division, school, college or department will be sponsoring any fundraising events. It’s delicious!

Please take time to review the Partners in Giving materials and consider making a contribution. Workplace giving is a great way for you to support charitable organizations. You can designate your donation to one or more individual charities, one or more umbrella organizations, or both. More information about the campaign and volunteer opportunities can be found at

The end of the campaign will be celebrated at the 11th annual Partners in Giving Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Kohl Center. All university employees who participate in the campaign will receive four complimentary tickets to the women’s basketball game against the La Salle Explorers taking place on December 2, 2017.

I hope you will join your colleagues and co-workers throughout the university community by participating in this year’s campaign. Please contribute by completing a pledge form and returning it to your unit’s Partners in Giving campaign chair or coordinator or by pledging online at A short video can be viewed

Thank you for your consideration of this important initiative.
