Instructors encouraged to move noncredit courses to Canvas
The following message was sent from Steve Cramer, UW-Madison Vice-Provost for Teaching and Learning, to UW-Madison instructors and support staff on Friday, Sept. 29:
Dear Colleagues,
This announcement is for instructors and support staff responsible for noncredit lifelong learning or compliance courses at UW-Madison. All noncredit courses can now transition to the Canvas learning management system (LMS). We strongly encourage you to make the move as soon as possible and have provided further instructions on how to do so below.
As you know, UW-Madison is currently transitioning all courses to Canvas and will discontinue campus support for D2L (Learn@UW) and Moodle by June 30, 2018. Everyone using D2L or Moodle must move to Canvas before the end of June.
To begin migrating your noncredit courses, please request a Canvas course by completing this form. Within 48 business hours, you will receive an email stating that a Canvas course shell has been created for you. The message will also include basic instructions on how to migrate your course content. If you are responsible for multiple noncredit courses, please submit a separate request for each one.
We recommend that you immediately begin to build and test your course content in Canvas. You are responsible for moving all content and adapting it in Canvas. You may direct your learners to Canvas at a later date. For more information, visit canvasinfo.wisc.edu/noncredit-courses. There are a number of support resources available to you including:
- Campus Support and Training Options
- Canvas Training Course for Instructors
- Canvas Active Teaching Labs
