Smith, who is renowned for his expertise on the biology, epidemiology and management of field crop diseases, is also a UW-Extension field crops plant pathologist.
The award was announced at a recent APS NCD meeting. It is designed to recognize early-career scientists for their contributions to discovery, learning, and/or engagement in plant pathology in the North Central region.
