Damon Smith honored by phytopathological society

Damon Smith

UW-Madison assistant professor of plant pathology Damon Smith is the recipient of the 2017 Early Career Award from the American Phytopathological Society’s North Central Division.

Smith, who is renowned for his expertise on the biology, epidemiology and management of field crop diseases, is also a UW-Extension field crops plant pathologist.

The award was announced at a recent APS NCD meeting. It is designed to recognize early-career scientists for their contributions to discovery, learning, and/or engagement in plant pathology in the North Central region. The award recognizes individuals for contributions in research, extension, teaching and/or industry.
