Victor Cabrera, associate professor in the Department of Dairy Science, has been selected to receive a Vilas Faculty Mid-Career Investigator Award. The award provides $50,000 in flexible research funds for the next two years.

Cabrera focuses on model-based decision support in dairy cattle and in dairy farm production systems. His primary interest is to improve cost-efficiency and profitability along with environmental stewardship on dairy farms by using simulation techniques, artificial intelligence and expert systems.
