Dale Norris, professor emeritus of entomology, dies at 86

5849c7fa75beb.imageDale Melvin Norris, Jr., professor emeritus in the Department of Entomology, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at the age of 86.

Norris joined the UW-Madison entomology department in 1958 to work on Dutch elm disease, focusing on the role of bark beetles in the spread of the disease. In addition to Dutch elm disease, he was recognized for his leadership in studies of oak wilt, vascular wilt of cacao trees, rapid decline of macadamia trees, and wilt of coffee and tea trees.
