UW Extension Chancellor Cathy Sandeen named Karl Martin to serve as interim dean and director for Cooperative Extension beginning Nov. 1. 2016. The appointment will last up to three years, until a permanent dean and director can be identified through a national search.
Martin currently serves as the Cooperative Extension program director for the Community, Natural Resource and Economic Development (CNRED) branch of Cooperative Extension, whose UW-Madison-based specialists have tenure homes in departments including Agricultural and Applied Economics, Forest and Wildlife Ecology, Life Sciences Communication, Community and Environmental Sociology and Urban and Regional Planning. Prior to assuming the program director position in Cooperative Extension, Martin served as the chief of the Wildlife and Forestry Research Section in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
In a statement to all Cooperative Extension employees, Chancellor Sandeen said, “Rick Klemme will remain Dean and Director until November 1st and will work with Karl on the transition of various leadership responsibilities between now and then. The first transition is for Karl to step into the co-executive sponsor role with Provost Brower and Vice Chancellor Wildeck for the nEXT Generation reorganization process. Throughout the upcoming weeks, we will continue to share additional details regarding the leadership transition between Rick and Karl.” Sandeen also thanked Klemme for his support during this critical transition. This entry was posted in Highlights by email@example.com.
