Network before football at WALSAA Fire-Up event – Sept. 17
Nearly as old as the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA), the WALSAA Football Fire-Up tailgate party and silent auction has served as the Association’s annual gathering and fundraiser for 41 years.
The 2016 Fire-Up will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the Wisconsin vs. Georgia State kickoff at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. It will take place in the University of Wisconsin Foundation parking lot, located at 1848 University Ave., Madison, Wis. 53726.
Join WALSAA as it continues a more than 40-year mission of connecting the University of Wisconsin, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), CALS alumni and fellow WALSAA members. CALS Dean Kathryn “Kate” VandenBosch will be in attendance to meet alumni and share in this great tradition. Guests will enjoy an appearance by Bucky Badger and live music by The Soggy Prairie Boys.
As in years past, Fire-Up 2016 will feature the WALSAA Silent Auction to raise money to support scholarships, awards and student activities. The UW Foundation generously matches up to $10,000 of the funds raised at this auction to help increase WALSAA’s impact on CALS students. Last year more than $25,000 was raised. This year’s auction will feature a variety of items such as week-long lodgings in Hawaii, Door County and Hurley, Wis., a John Deere XUV Gator, a Badger/Brewer/Packer fire pit ring, courtside basketball tickets and much more! Watch the WALSAA Facebook page for an updated auction list as the event nears.
The WALSAA annual meeting will be held a half-hour prior to the beginning of the event. Association business will be conducted and new board member nominees will be introduced.
The member cost for a combined package ticket to both the Fire-Up luncheon and game is $75 for adults (while tickets last); $65 for children 3 to 11; kids under 3 are free (if sitting on a lap at game). If you’d rather not attend the game or already have game tickets, Fire-Up luncheon tickets are $40 for adults ($30 to WALSAA members); $20 for children 3 to 11; and free for those younger than 3 years old. $15 of your ticket price is a fully tax-deductible donation to WALSAA.
All tickets are held at the registration desk and picked up upon arrival at the Fire-Up; they are not mailed. After that date, Fire-Up tickets will be sold at the gate for an additional $5 each. Guests can order and pay online at www.walsaa.org.
