Ian Coxhead appointed interim director of the Wisconsin Energy Institute

image.aae.wiscIan Coxhead, professor and chair of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, will serve as interim director of the Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) starting later this month. He will help lead the institute following the retirement of Michael Corradini, who helped found and and lead the institute for the past decade.

In this role, Coxhead will work with Steve Ackerman, Associate Vice Chancellor in the office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education, and a committee of colleagues to conduct a review of the WEI and to help to conduct the search for a permanent director.

Coxhead is a development economist whose research includes, among other topics, the impacts of energy export booms, fossil fuel subsidies and carbon taxes in the developing world. He brings a wealth of administrative experience and breadth and depth of knowledge about campus having served as Chair of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics since 2012, Chair of Development Studies for six years (2004-2009 and 2015-16) and Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (2002-2005).
