In 2014, in honor of the college’s quasquicentennial, an anonymous donor offered to match gifts to the CALS Annual Fund up to $100,000 total. Last year, another donor stepped up to offer a match, but wished to remain anonymous as well.
Recognizing the success these matches had on fundraising efforts for the college, members of the CALS Board of Visitors pooled some resources to provide another match this year. Like the others, the total match is $100,000.
Today marks the beginning of an effort, led by the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA) to market this match and obtain gifts to support the highest priorities and unanticipated needs of the college via the CALS Annual Fund.
The kick-off includes a visit from Dean VandenBosch to “Badger Call,” a division of the WFAA that hires students to connect with alumni and friends via telephone to share experiences and obtain financial support for the UW. Dean VandenBosch will provide the student callers with college updates, fundraising priorities and ice cream (obviously).
In addition to Badger Call, a couple of direct mail pieces will be sent to alumni and donors. The first was mailed last week. Targeted emails and social media will also help advertise the match.
