The Department of Nutritional Sciences has had another robust Spring 2016 Dietetic Internship Match. Graduates of the department’s Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) must complete a post-baccalaureate dietetic internship before they can be eligible to take the national Registration Examination for Dietitians.
Of the 40 graduating DPD seniors who applied for internships, 35 were placed. This match rate of 87.5 percent is well above the national average of around 50 percent.
“Our students work extremely hard for these competitive internships,” says Erika Anna, an academic advisor in nutritional sciences.
The department, which houses both the nutritional sciences and dietetics majors, currently has a total enrollment of approximately 325 students, 70% of which are pursuing a Bachelor of Science-Dietetics.
