International Programs seeks CALS nominees for the World Food Prize

International Programs would like to nominate a member of the CALS faculty for the World Food Prize, the most prominent international award for breakthrough achievements in alleviating hunger and promoting global food security. The award comes with a prize of $250,000.

The selection criteria suggests individual nominees “must have demonstrated a quantifiable breakthrough achievement in one or more areas involving improving the quality, quantity and availability of food for the world’s people. Those areas include, but are not limited to: Nutrition/Health, Plant/Seed Science, Animal Science/Aquaculture, Soil Science/Water Conservation, Crop Protection, Food Technology/Safety, Policy/Research/Extension, Infrastructure/Distribution, and Hunger/Poverty Alleviation.”

Please email the names of potential nominees by April 8. The deadline for nomination submissions is May 1.
