On Saturday February 20th, members of the Association of Women in Agriculture partnered with Kids Against Hunger to package meals for starving children and families. With the help of 75 past and present members of AWA, 29,808 meals were packaged in an hour and a half, well surpassing the organizations goal of 20,000 meals. Each packaged meal provides six nutritionally complete servings to help feed starving children both locally and across the globe.
Since it’s inception in 1999, Kids Against Hunger and it’s satellites collectively provide over 40 million meals, free of charge, in more than 40 countries through the efforts of hundreds of thousands of volunteers annually. Developed by leading food scientists from Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and Archer Daniel Midland, the ingredients of these meals meet all of the nutritional requirements of severely malnourished children and aid in their growth and mental development.
