NSF ADVANCE opportunity for female postdoctoral scholars in STEM

With the goal of encouraging more women scientists and mathematicians to consider academic careers, especially at primarily undergraduate institutions, the UW System Women & Science Program is offering a Postdoctoral Seminar Program.  Female postdoctoral scholars in STEM departments at UW-Madison are invited to apply to give a research seminar at one of the system’s eleven comprehensive universities. Travel expenses will be covered by an NSF ADVANCE grant.

In the spring semester the selected scholars will visit a campus, meet with students and faculty, and present a 40-45 minute research seminar to undergraduate students and faculty. This will be an opportunity for the scholar to practice interview skills and to learn about careers at primarily undergraduate institutions. The host faculty and undergraduates will benefit by meeting young women scientists doing interesting research projects, and learning about how scientific research is done at major research institutions.

The online application may be found on the website at:

The postdoc’s research adviser will be asked to fill out a brief recommendation form, indicating permission to travel off campus.

Application Deadline:  Monday, Nov. 16, 2015. Notifications of successful applications will be made by Dec. 21.
