Francisco Pelegri, professor of genetics, has been selected to receive a Vilas Research Investigator Award from the university. The award provides $30,000 to be spent on the support of a graduate research assistant or project assistant during the 2015-2016 fiscal year.

Pelegri studies the early stages of vertebrate development, including fertilization, cell division and cell fate determination, with applications to reproductive, regenerative and cancer biology.
