Nicole Miller has been selected to be the next news manager in the CALS Office of External Relations. On Oct. 1 she will assume the position currently held by Bob Mitchell, who has been producing news about the college for over 30 years and is set to retire later this year. In her new role, Miller will oversee the college’s news strategy, content production and news staff.
Miller joined the college’s communication team in 2005 as a graduate student project assistant, and was hired as a full time staff member in 2006. As a science writer for CALS, her primary responsibility has been to produce articles for Grow magazine, eCALS and release to news media. She also set up and manages the college’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, and coordinates CALS Communicators, a group of CALS staff, faculty and students that meets to discuss best practices in the communication field.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Washington in 1997 and a master’s degree in life sciences communication from CALS in 2006.
